The Love That We Can Give
The Love That We Can Give by Justin Y. Yang
How could I just sit around
in this land of stolen liberty?
That’s used for fame and greed
instead of hopeful opportunites.
As children in the slums
wander around a plastic wasteland
and try to keep their pants up
around their invisible waistbands.
Why is that we’re always hungry?
For food, power, and those
pieces of green paper
we like to call money.
When we should be
putting ours minds together
to help change the third worlds.
Because together we have the power
to encourage and give hope,
the hope that they could live,
so let’s show them our love,
the love that we can give.
